With the latest generation of Intel chips comes a new generation of mini-ITX boards, ones which harness all the power of Chipzilla’s finest, but pack it all onto a board barely the size of a dinner plate.
First out the gate is Zotac, which uses a slighly retro Nforce 610i chipset, but supports LGA75 processors up to 1333MHz – yes, that’s you, Wolfdale, with your 45nm shenanigans. Expect to pick it up for less than fifty United States Dollars.
Powered by an NVIDIA GeForce 7050 graphics processor, the ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX delivers DirectX 9 with Shader Model 3.0 compatibility for high-performance 3D graphics. With support for DirectX 9, the ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX is Microsoft Windows Vista Premium ready, with full support for the new Windows Aero 3D user interface.
“Small form factor systems are the future for users that want a basic system for basic tasks such as web browsing and generating word documents, but don’t necessarily need 3DMark dominating performance,” said Carsten Berger, marketing director, ZOTAC International. “The ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX is ready to take on the basic tasks with headroom to take on higher-powered tasks such as video editing when paired with a dual or quad-core processor.”
The NVIDIA nForce 610i media and communications processor provides support for Intel Core 2 processors with front-side bus speeds up to 1333 MHz on the ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX. With the ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX, users can match their processing needs with any LGA775 Socket based processor. Supported processors include enthusiast-class Intel Core 2 Extreme, mainstream Core 2 Duo, quad-core Core 2 Quad and all entry-level Pentium-family processors.
“Quiet computing is becoming quite popular with users placing greater emphasis on noise levels. The ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX allows users to break away from mini-ITX motherboards with processors soldered onboard for the latest Intel Core 2 processors, while still maintaining nearly-silent noise levels,” Mr. Berger said.
Although small in size, the ZOTAC nForce 610i-ITX features 2 SATA 3.0Gbps ports with RAID 0 and 1 support, one ATA133 port, two DIMM slots with support for DDR2 533/667memory, high-definition 5.1-channel audio and one PCI Express x1 expansion slot.
