Zalman CNPS 7700-Cu Review

January 17th 2005 | Cooling

Today I’ll be taking a look at the CNPS 7700-Cu from Zalman provided by SharkaCorp. The CNPS 7700-Cu probably already looks familiar to you because it is the same design as the CNPS 7000-Cu, which has a proven reputation. The CNPS 7700-Cu is another step in a positive direction for Zalman, being the largest, and newest addition to their line of radial coolers, using a 120mm fan. [Supports Intel Pentium4 Socket 775/478 & AMD Sempron/AMD64 Socket 754/939/940]

…The cooler performed very well as I expected. I was very curious to see which of the coolers utilizing 120mm fans would pull ahead. In considering just the temperatures, the XP120 edges out the CNPS 7700-Cu by a negligible margin. The fan used for the XP120 in this case wasn’t very loud, but noticeable still. The CNPS 7700-Cu is nice and quiet in both settings, and within one or two degrees of the XP120 across the board. If you’re a Zalman radial cooler fan, and your motherboard isn’t listed as incompatible, this should be your next cooler, assuming size isn’t an issue.

Pros:
Great cooling
Quiet
Good reputation
Trusted design
Good fit & finish
Cons:
Huge, it may still slightly interfere with installation/removal of some components on a compatible motherboard.
Heavy
