Those of you on a budget, but are still pretty serious about gaming should really look no further than the XFX 6600. I’ll have to admit that our expectations were pretty low when I was told that this was a mere 6600 but the card exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Performance was excellent, and despite not having any fancy copper/heatpipe cooling solution, the card overclocked very well as well. Also of note, the card’s cooling solution is very quiet so noise conscious consumers should take note.
The perfomance is impressive, and seeing as to how NVIDIA has moved the nForce 4 SLI x8 into the mainstream category, grabbing a second XFX 6600 will help you along the way to making a speedy budget box that can give rigs at 50% of the cost a run for their money. VL’s Editor’s Choice Award.
