Xbox-360-modenaMore Xbox 2/360 shenanigans originating from the enigmatic ourcolonies.net when a secret picture of a Ferrari Red car, thought to be a touched-up screenshot for a magazine cover featuring Project Gotham Racing 3, is loaded into a hex editor. TeamXbox says, “While we are still contemplating the secret image, Nomb wonders what would happen if he loads the screen in a binary editor. Tony does his magic and finds out some incredible stuff inside the image file.

“…C.a.r.R.e.n.d.e.r.3.6.0._M.a.g.a.z.i.n.e._.C.o.v.e.r…’

“It’s pretty obvious this ”car render” will become a ”magazine cover”, probably OXM. But definitely the most important part of that illuminating line is the “360” which would be the first official unofficial confirmation that the next Xbox will be named Xbox 360 or that the car in the image is the Ferrari 360 Modena.”

Whatever it is, the screenshot crops out where the Ferrari badges would normally appear on a 360 Modena (or Spider), but it still looks like a 360 to me - here’s a pic of a Ferrari Modena 360 for comparison - although both my copies of PGR and PGR2 feature a Ferrari Enzo on the cover.

Goldman Sachs predicts that the next-gen Xbox could go on sale as early as October or November at a retail price of “perhaps about $249-$299″ and around 3 million of the consoles will be shipped by the end of the year.
