Windows Vista will ship—eventually. Given that it’s not going to make this Christmas, it’s unlikely any game publisher will want to focus on shipping Vista titles this year. So the critical holiday season for PC games will still be a Windows XP world.
In some ways, this may actually be better, for consumers and game developers alike. If Vista had shipped by November, some developers would no doubt feel pressured to try to rush a title out before the holiday season with a DirectX 10 game, or a game that is somehow Vista only, but not fully baked. This delay will let give developers who are targeting Vista and DirectX 10 a little more breathing room.
