Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD Hard Drive Review

February 24th 2006 | Storage

Hard drives are often added for storage capacity, not for performance. The move to a 10,000 RPM hard drive changes all this, it causes a noticeable improvement on transfer and load times. As for style, this is unique to the Raptor X; the drive’s clear window lets the hard drive become the centerpiece of a customized computer.

It should not be forgotten that the Raptor X brings more than a window to the table. Its 16MB cache and other improvements from the previous Raptor’s are definitely worth noting, especially in high-demand environments. While the drive is not for people on a budget is it a ground-breaking product and another major score for Western Digital.
