The Western Digital My Book external series of hard drives are really some of the best external hard drives that I have seen. In the desktop series Western Digital offers the My Book Pro, My Book Premium, My Book Premium ES, and the My Book Essential Edition, which we received. Most of the drives come in capacities ranging from 160GB to 500GB, with the Essential Edition offering an 80GB drive as well.
The drive looks great, probably the most stylish external hard drive that I have seen. Just like the name says the My Book is supposed to look like a book sitting on your desk. The illumination of the power button also gives the My Book so added style. The ability to place the drive vertically or horizontally is also a plus.
Using the My Book couldn’t be easier. There are no drivers or software to install. All you do is plug in the power and the USB cable and you are ready to go. Overall ThinkComputers give the Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 500GB USB External Hard Drive a 10 out of 10 score!
