VGA Charts, Part I: High-End Systems

December 19th 2002 | Guides

Tom’s Hardware takes a look at 29 graphics cards, including ATI R9700 PROs, SIS Xabre 600s and GeForce2 MX400 to GeForce4 Ti4600 cards.

This might be of added interest to some – one of the test systems used was an ASUS A7N8X (nForce2) + AMD Athlon XP 2700+, the other an ASUS P4PE (i845PE) with an Intel Pentium 4 3.06 GHz.

"Welcome to the extensively updated Tom’s Hardware Guide VGA Charts. In the first part of the article, we look at the performance from 29 graphics cards on very fast PC systems. In the second part (look out for it in the next few weeks), we’ll also give you an overview of performance on slower systems. The tests were conducted under Windows XP SP1 with an Intel Pentium 4 and an ASUS P4PE (i845PE), as well as an AMD Athlon XP 2700+ on the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (nForce 2). Both systems were equipped with 512 MB RAM (DDR 333 – 2/2/2/5). Happily enough, all 29 of the cards ran stably. Only the SiS Xabre cards proved to be a bit uncooperative in Aquanox when used with nForce2."
