TYAN - Tyan Unveils nForce Pro Mobos

Tyan today launched a pair of motherboards based on Nvidia’s recently announced PCI Express-based nForce Pro 2200 and 2050 chipsets, both geared to workstation and server systems based on AMD’s 64-bit processors.

The workstation-oriented Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2985) family will ship in both 2050 and 2200-based versions, targeting dual Athlon 64/64-FX and Opteron CPUs, respectively. The boards provide two PCI Express x16 slots ready for SLI-configured graphics cards. They support registered 400MHz DDR SDRAM, PCI-X support in addition to PCI-E, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, built-in FireWire, USB 2.0, and Serial ATA-II with Nvidia’s RAID sub-system.

The Thunder K8SRE (S2891) 1U server line also used the nForce Pro 2200 to host twin Opteron 200 processors. It also provides registered 400MHz DDR SDRAM support, PCI-E x16 and PCI-X slots, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, a built-in video controller, and Serial ATA-II ports, Tyan said.
