Thermalright SP-97 Heatsink Review

February 11th 2004 | Cases & Acc.

Just when I thought air-cooling performance would top out with the SLK-900U, Thermalright slaps me in the face with the SP-97. I’m not overwhelmed, or blown away with its performance, it is only a small evolution, but when it comes to air cooling, that’s all you are going to get at this stage in the game. It is slightly more expensive than the previous generation, although online prices are already falling. You DO get what you pay for, as the performance does back up the expense. If you want an AMD CPU cooler that won’t fall of your socket during transport while cooling quietly and effectively, the Thermalright SP-97 looks to be your best bet.
