The Thermalright SLK-948U (for Socket 478 / Athlon64 Platform) earns a 96 point score and a ‘Merit Award’ over at Envy News:

Having never dealt with Thermalright before I was quite impressed when I saw the box the SLK-948U was packaged in. It reminded me of the high-quality products I get directly from manufacturers who are more concerned about the product inside than flashy packaging. Once you have the box open you’ll find the folded installation instruction sheet along with the heatsink and what I found to be a pleasing array of mounting hardware. Capable of mounting on Athlon64, Intel Pentium 4 and Xeon processors, this heatsink is provided with three sets of fan mounting retainers and a pair of metal clamps that can be used with the existing Pentium 4 heatsink mount.

..The differences in fan sizes only affected the overall performance by a few degrees which was expected - but the small tradeoff in performance made quite a difference in noise. The stock heatsink and fan pales in comparison to the SLK-948U. I can’t say I’m surprised. I had expected great performance out of the SLK-948U from the moment I opened the box and I can safely say it met or exceeded all my expectations.
