Sony Revenue Falls Due to PS3 Delay and Battery Troubles

October 26th 2006 | General

Sony is in a spot of bother, it would appear, having today announced that its net income has dropped by a massive 94%, which it is blaming on PS3 delays and humongous battery recalls.

The delay behind the PrayStation 3 - as we are calling it, because only through some kind of religious miracle will anyone be able to afford one - is hitting Sony hard, as gamers are putting off buying PS2s and holding out for the PS3. PSP sales have also been down.

the Inquirer - Sony hit hard by PS3 and battery troubles

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., the No. 1 maker of game consoles, said it may not deliver the planned amount of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming consoles by the year end and by March, 2007. The company seems to still blame limited amount of Blu-ray disc components for its problems.

Besides the ability to ship a sufficient amount of consoles, it is also unclear how the insufficient yield will affect the building costs of the console, which are already very high.
