SOLTEK - Soltek 75FRN2-LR nForce 2 Motherboard Review

June 3rd 2003 | Hardware

A while ago, we reviewed Soltek’s 75FRN-L nF2 motherboard, but were not very impressed with it, mainly due to the lack of mounting holes and multiplier adjustment. Soltek managed to add in the multiplier adjustment in later BIOS after we posted the review. Sometimes I wonder when did so call “patching” become an acceptable behaviour. In the good old days, we knew for sure that hardware and software would work straight out of the box. Sigh… Then again, manufacturers only had to release a board once a year instead of 2~3 boards in these days.

Now, Soltek releases the second-generation nF2 board, called 75FRN2. This board is visually identical to the original 75FRN board; the biggest difference being the use of Nvidia’s latest C1 revision nF2 chipset, which is guaranteed to run at 200MHz FSB.
