SilverStone MFP51 LCD Display Front Panel (with Remote) Review

June 25th 2007 | Multimedia

Media center PC’s are all the rage these days, with people swapping out their stand-alone DVD players for slim PC’s. Unfortunately, a PC doesn’t have its own screen like a DVD player. And that’s where SilverStone come in, or should I say SoundGraph?

..The display, remote and software sent with this product, is actually a repackage of SoundGraph’s iMon display. This is meant to be used in such a fashion, and they release their units for OEM distribution. As a result any manufacturer can grab one of these units, and pop it into a chassis of their own design, or indeed an entire case. This makes sense for everyone involved, as iMon don’t have to directly deal with the buying public, and SilverStone get an easy ride with only having to design how the unit looks, not how it works.

..With slim-line cases and PC’s in your living room becoming common-place, it seems natural to make it as user friendly by making it look like your DVD player. The SilverStone MFP51 does exactly this. The large screen, clear characters and whole host of options make this a very compelling purchase; especially if you are lazy and want to use your PC [via the remote control] from your sofa. 10/10
