ShootLive, a patent pending photography delivery process developed by the world renowned photography agency EMPICS, is to be unveiled for the first time at the International Police Expo Conference 2006 in Birmingham on 9 – 11 May.
ShootLive enables police photographers to take high resolution pictures in real-time and then send the images to a central hub over a wireless internet connection within 11 seconds of the camera click.
ShootLive will be demonstrated at the International Police Expo for use in key areas such as command and control, major events, major incidents and surveillance. In fact its use is of paramount importance when capturing live incidents in real-time, enabling scene of crime police to identify criminal’s actions, victims and weapons more easily and effectively.
Phil O’Brien, chief executive of EMPICS said, “Currently ShootLive is an unrivalled technology and is by far the best way to capture high quality images of incidents and send them quickly and securely to a website or mobile phone. This obviously will have a number of benefits for the police force in stopping potential incidents or collecting evidence.”
“Previously film or video images had to be physically transported to be identified. ShootLive will enable police to make decisions based on live information on the ground.”
The system is also 100% tamper proof as each digital photo is date and time stamped as soon as it leaves the camera. In fact, within seconds multiple copies of the image are recorded on both the local ShootLive box and the central secure server. The importance of tamper proof systems is an integral and essential police requirement which has previously been problematic when using digital photography.
Currently, this unique service allows football fans to follow a match in real time in words and pictures on their mobile phone or over the internet. Using a ‘ShootLive Box’, photographers at a live event are able to transmit hundreds of high resolution digital images in real-time for experienced picture editors to instantly select, edit and enhance. The images are then streamed onto WAP and websites for consumer use, all in less than 90 seconds
ShootLive was developed by EMPICS, part of The Press Association, the UK’s leading provider of real time news and sports information. At the moment, the ShootLive system covers sports news and entertainment events with rights providers such as Chelsea FC and Manchester City FC.
