GotApex takes a look at Sapphire’s X800 XL Hybrid. The Hybrid puts a different interface onto the X800XL series, using ATI’s PCIe->AGP bridge, but also adds Video In capability to the VO that most Sapphire cards come equipped with:
The Sapphire X800XL Hybrid edition gives you about the same performance as the X800XL Ultimate, definitely within statistical error. I wondered whether the bridge chip would make any performance difference, it really didn’t as shown. The Hybrid improves upon the Ultimate in the area of VIVO functionality but might take away a little bit in getting the card to higher OC’d speeds. The X800XL has proved again that performance doesn’t have to come at a huge price, the card is able to keep up decently with the big boys and yet not break the bank at the same time.
