Razer upped the ante again by launching the Razer Diamondback during the 2004 World Cyber Games finals in San Francisco. The Razer Diamondback is a stunning 1600dpi optical mouse designed and developed right here in Singapore. Join us as we delve into the snake under the hood.
…The slim profile of the Diamondback differs from the bulky Logitech or Microsoft designs most people have been used to. While the Diamondback does not ‘fill’ out your hand like a Logitech MX 510 does, it still feels comfortable. We were able to rest our whole palm on the mouse with fingers outstretched. There was no evidence of fatigue or cramping even after hours of gaming. However, this category falls heavily into personal choice, you will either like it or hate it. All of Logitech’s high-end mice designs, from the MX 500 to the latest MX 1000 seem to shun left handed users. The Diamondback is ambidextrous, so the advantage goes to Razer.
The Diamondback offers unparalleled performance - thanks to the 1600dpi optical sensor. Not only can the mouse capture images at such high speeds, the 16-bit data path ensures a synchronized cursor all the time. We punished the Diamondback as hard as possible, but short of throwing the mouse, we could not get it to exhibit any form of tracking anomalies.
All in all, Razer has come a long way to develop a mouse that most people will be able to use comfortably. From the smooth aggressive profile to the incredibly high specifications, it is without a doubt that the Diamondback is one of the finest pieces of gaming hardware today. If you’re serious about gaming and require a mouse with one of the best technologies built-in, the Diamondback should be on your list.
