Debuting at the same price as the Radeon X1800 XT first did a couple of months back, the US$549 priced Radeon X1900 XT is in a class of its own with no real competitor. We speculate the Radeon X1800 XT to gradually wane away as stocks deplete in the following weeks and months while its price slides to yet below the US$500 mark as the Radeon X1900 XT becomes the definitive successor with performance gains of up to 30%.
The Radeon X1900 XT is simply a class above the GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB in most cases. The GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB on the other hand is currently going for well beyond the US$649 suggested retail price with scarce availability, but is challenged by the more modest ATI Radeon X1900 XT on certain grounds.. ..If the Radeon X1900 XT pops up in retail soon, its price/performance proposition is just every bit as good as the GeForce 7800 GTX, only with more performance and a couple of quality enhancement features not available yet on the green team such as FSAA with HDR.
