Plextor PX-712SA DVD Writer Review

The drive is packed with features, making it a dream for anyone who takes DVD or CD writing seriously. One main aspect which makes the drive different from the competition is speed. Currently the PX-712SA drive is one of the fastest on the market, as it has a maximum DVD+R speed of 12X, and a maximum DVD-R speed of 8X. Meaning that it can theoretically write a 4.7GB DVD in just over 4 and a half minutes at 12X!

…After looking at the Plextor DVD burner in more detail, it is clear to see that this is a top quality product. To start with, it comes bundled with a huge array of useful software, it has many useful features, it looks great, and most importantly, it performs great! The drive supports all writing formats you may need, as well as the feature to write up to 900MB onto common 700MB CDs. The only problem that we came across when testing, was the load time. It took 11 to 14 seconds to load DVDs or CDs, which is a very long time when compared to other drives. The drive is priced at around $180, which makes it great value too. t-break Recommended Product
