A spin-off company from Royal Philips Electronics has developed a wirelessly-connected “electronic reader” tablet based on a high-contrast “electronic paper” display from E Ink Corp. The e-reader is due to become available in April 2006.
The spin-off, iRex Technologies BV (Eindhoven, The Netherlands), claims that its wirelessly internet-connected E-reader can be read outdoors in sunshine or shadow. The E-reader allows users to write comments, mark or underline sections to provide a paper-like experience, the company claimed.
