According to Mercury Research data released on Monday, NVIDIA has slipped to a marginal third place (24.7%) in the graphics market, with pole placed Intel (31.7%) also losing out to ATi’s increase in market share (24.9%):
Data released Monday night by Mercury Research showed Nvidia slipping to third in the graphics market with 24.7 percent share, just behind rival ATI Technologies Inc. (ATY.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) , which rose to 24.9 percent. Intel Corp. (INTC.O: Quote, Profile, Research) remained the leader at 31.7 percent of the market, with its integrated graphics chipsets, despite losing 3.2 percentage points of market share. Goldman Sachs noted that Nvidia lost share in the key market for stand-alone graphics parts for PCs, while ATI posted gains in that segment. Nvidia once held a performance lead over ATI in that market, though the two companies have drawn essentially even in the eyes of analysts over the last year.
