NVIDIA Enables Next-Generation Ultra-Portable Computers
MICROPROCESSOR FORUM—SAN JOSE, CA—OCTOBER 14, 2003—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced the NVIDIA nForce3 Go120 media and communications processor (MCP), breakthrough mobile technology for ultra-portable computers (UPC). The nForce3 Go120 has the industry’s most complete feature set for UPCs with HyperTransport technology providing maximized application performance, USB 2.0 support, and NVIDIA StreamThru technology for superior networking and broadband communications.
“The nForce3 Go120 has the smallest footprint and highest performance of any MCP available for UPCs,” said Rob Csongor, senior director of mobile computing products at NVIDIA. “It is inevitable that notebooks will continue to get smaller and lighter. The nForce3 Go120 breaks new ground toward that goal. Combine this breakthrough MCP technology with an NVIDIA graphics processing unit (GPU) and you get the best UPC experience possible.”
The first products based on the nForce3 Go120 will feature the highly-anticipated Efficeon processor from Transmeta Corporation.
“The future of the PC is small, highly integrated multimedia devices that are portable,” said Dr. Matthew R. Perry, president and CEO, Transmeta Corporation. “Transmeta’s customers need to deliver exceptional, efficient computing form factors with extended battery life, minimal heat and highly integrated functionality. NVIDIA’s nForce3 Go120 product, coupled with an NVIDIA mobile GPU, offers an excellent solution for these needs.”
