NVIDIA nForce 400 and GeForce 6100 Series Preview

September 21st 2005 | nForce4

Nvidia has provided us with initial first details about their new C51 integrated chipset lineup which is their first with integrated video since the nForce 2 IGP. Integrated video from them has been long awaited, and has allowed ATI to grab all the retail marketshare for Athlon 64 and Sempron systems. Nvidia is determined to regain that share and to become as dominant as they are in the discrete sector.

The C51 is broken into two separate chipsets, and two versions of each. The integrated video is handed by either the 6150 or the 6100. The IO features are handled by the 430 or 410. A combination of the GeForce 6150 and the nForce 430 would be the highest performing and most feature rich part. Each combination has Direct X 9 and Shader Model 3.0 support as well as SATA 2 and RAID 0 and 1. The 430/6150 combo adds RAID 0+1 and 5 along with Gigabit Ethernet and HD 720p and 1080i playback support for MPEG-2 and WMV9. It also has a higher clock and twice the SATA support.
