NVIDIA nF400 GF6100 Series Technology Preview

September 20th 2005 | nForce4

NVIDIA will be releasing two versions of the chipset (nForce 410 and nForce 430) as well as two versions of the GPU (GeForce 6100 and GeForce 6150) and either of the chipset can work with either of the GPU.

They will both feature HD Azalia onboard audio and support for IDE and SATA drives in RAID configurations. Eight USB 2.0 ports and two PCI-E x1 slots along with built-in Networking complete the chipset. nVidia has kept the HT bandwidth between the GeForce 6100 and nForce 400 series at 1.6GBps in each direction. Finally, good news for tweakers as the ntune utility will be compatible with the nForce 400 series

The 6100 series is the first GPU to hit the market that’s based on the 0.09 um process. Utilizing the PCI-E and UMA, these GPUs will use the system memory as their local memory which is pretty much the standard with integrated graphics as they’re built to provide low cost solutions. Both the GeForce 6100 and GeForce 6150 are based on the Geforce6 architecture and thus support Direct-X 9 and Shader Model 3.0- in fact, they’re Windows Vista ready. Another great feature of this GPU is High Definition Video support right on your motherboard.
