NVIDIA Launches GeForce 6600 with DDR-2 Memory

October 20th 2005 | Graphics Cards

GeForce 6600 DDR-2 is the name of the new product from Nvidia. The board comes with boosted specs compared to the original 6600. The GPU clock is raised 15% to 350MHz, while DDR-2 memory rocks at 800MHz, ccompared to 550MHz on the original 6600s. That raises theoretical bandwidth by a full 4GB/s to 12.8GB/s. The amount of memory is boosted as well, from 128MB to 256MB - thanks to Nvidia using BGA packaging, which takes less space than the old fashioned TSOP.

The board is SLI-ready, but with no bridge as Nvidia calls bridgeless-SLI boards “Mainstream SLI Ready”. Expect this baby in the shops very soon.
