Yesterday, NVIDIA launched its third addition to the GeForce 8800 family at a more affordable price point. Bit-tech takes a look at three different GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB cards from BFGTech, EVGA and MSI (BFGTech GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB, EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS Superclocked 320MB and MSI NX8800GTS-T2D320E) to find out if this cheaper 8800 GTS is as good as its older brother:
The GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB is exactly what it says on the tin – it’s the same card as its bigger brother, with half of the memory footprint. NVIDIA says that it is designed to deliver great gaming experiences at what the company refers to as mainstream resolutions with great image quality and an even more affordable price tag.
..BFG’s GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB is not going to win all of the benchmarks with its fairly middle of the road clock speed increases, but BFGTech does appear to have hit a price point right on the top of the head. It’s also around the same price or cheaper than many “standard clocked” GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB cards, making it exceedingly good value for money. On top of that, you also get BFGTech’s lifetime warranty, which is right up there with what EVGA offers its customers.
