NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT Review

December 5th 2005 | Graphics Cards

As a lower-end version of the GeForce 7800 GTX, the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT not only comes with a down-sized version of the 7800 GTX GPU and slower GDDR3 memory, it also has a simpler cooler and PCB design. But it is still a power guzzler with a massive thermal output, so the additional power connector is still required.

As far as the reference card is concerned, its performance falls right in between that of the 7800 GTX and the 6800 Ultra. This is exactly what NVIDIA wants.

So, would we recommend the GeForce 7800 GT? Well, the answer is pretty simple. If you can’t afford the GeForce 7800 GTX, there’s no harm settling for the GeForce 7800 GT. You get all the features of the 7800 GTX for a much lower cost. All you have to do is put up with the loss of bragging rights and better frame rates.
