NVIDIA Expects Three-fold Growth of Global Media Center Shipments in 2004

Global media center shipments should reach six million units this year, up three-fold from two million last year, said Huang Jen-hsun, president and CEO of Nvidia, at Computex 2004. Demand for media centers is picking up, Huang said. Further growth is expected to come should prices fall to a lower level, he added.

In contrast to media centers still based on PC concepts and interfaces, Nvidia’s nStant Media (a multimedia software) brings multimedia experiences to notebook users without having to start the operating system, he explained. At the push of a button, the users’ digital content on their notebook becomes readily available.
