NVIDIA BACKS EDINBURGH GAMES FESTIVAL
NVIDIA sponsors Royal Museum interactive event and Gameplayers’ award

July 10, 2003: NVIDIA, the world leader in visual processing solutions, is ensuring that visitors to the Edinburgh International Games Festival (EIGF) will be sampling games the way that they are meant to be played - with NVIDIA’s leading graphics processors installed.

The best of contemporary interactive entertainment is being showcased at the EIGF in an eight-day event to be held at The Royal Museum between August 11th and 18th, 2003. Here, visitors to the festival will be able to try out leading games on a wide variety of platforms, test themselves in special competitions and take part in a game design workshop.

NVIDIA has announced that, as a major sponsor of the EIGF, it will be providing the very latest in NVIDIA’s gaming technology, the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra GPU, to power all of the PCs at The Royal Museum.

“For NVIDIA, it’s a chance to demonstrate clearly that the PC is the ultimate gaming platform, especially when it is properly equipped with our cutting-edge graphics hardware,” said Darryl Still, European developer relations manager at NVIDIA. “This philosophy is at the heart of our The Way It’s Meant To Be Played campaign, which is our programme of collaboration with leading game developers to ensure that gamers get the best experience possible.”

“Right from the start, NVIDIA has been very keen to contribute to the Edinburgh International Games Festival. We believe that the games festival will be a vibrant showcase for the interactive arts, with PCs using NVIDIA’s graphics hardware at the forefront.”

With this in mind, NVIDIA is also sponsoring the EIGF’s Gameplayers’ Game Of The Year award, an accolade to be voted for by visitors. This award will be made at a ceremony to be held on the evening of August 18th, the closing day of the festival.
