The Nokia N800 internet tablet is just the product a lot of people have been waiting for, whether or not they know it.
It can handle the duties of a VOIP phone, a PDA, smartphone, a portable media player, and even a portable gaming device, but when looked upon in summation, the N800 feels the most like a small notebook computer or UMPC. This is to say that it did not encounter the limitations of these other devices and has a usability and scalability that is most akin to an actual computer, not a portable device.
..While the N800 works great right now, its outlook for the future is even better. The addition of Skype is clearly the biggest advance on the horizon, but Nokia and the internet tablet community are both dedicated to improving the device’s performance as well as making an increasing number of applications available. While the 770 can now be seen as a trial run, I think it’s clear that Nokia hit on something very good and the N800 is going to have a much larger impact.
