Nokia on Wednesday unveiled its first non-phone mobile device - the hand-held, pocket-sized Internet Tablet for accessing the Web over a wireless broadband connection. The Linux-based Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, priced at $350 (excl VAT), 350 (inc VAT), is expected to ship later this year.
MSNBC - The Internet Tablet is being positioned as an alternative to buying an extra personal computer or laptop for different rooms, providing a cheaper, quicker and less-cumbersome way to connect to the Web.

The gizmo has a 4-inch horizontal touch screen with zoom and an on-screen keyboard. It can be connected to the Net either from a hot spot or using Bluetooth via a compatible mobile phone, Nokia said.
Reuters - Nokia will also launch and support an open source community Web Site, encouraging software developers to hack into the device and improve the product.. ..Consumers will be able to store content downloaded from the Internet on removable MMC memory cards, or transfer it to a desktop computer with a USB connection or Bluetooth.
