Nintendo is expecting hundreds of consumers to wait in line on Saturday evening, November 18, through midnight to be the first in North America to buy the highly anticipated new Wii video game system.
Toys “R” Us Times Square in New York City will be transformed into the “ultimate entertainment center” with interactive gameplay, music, fun, games and a special appearance by Nintendo President, Reggie Fils-Aime, who will sell the first Wii. The store opens its doors at 12:01 am on Sunday, November 19.
Nintendo will also host a similar event at GameStop Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles. Activities at both Wii launch events begin at 8 p.m. and the stores will remain open past midnight to accommodate shoppers.
Wii, priced at an MSRP of $249.99, is already singled out as one of the most highly sought-after gifts this holiday season.
