THE NFORCE 5 CHIPSET will be a highly overclockable chipset. Our sources confirmed that the Nvidia Pentium 4 chipset will go up to FSB 1200MHz, using 300MHz rather than 200MHz multiples. Our friends at www.ocworkbench.com even have a screenshot to prove it. It goes up to FSB 300 without major problems. Intel 915 and 925 chipset cannot easily get to those speeds. For the record, an FSB of 300MHz means that in quad pumped Pentium 4 mode it actually works at 1200 MHz.
We also learned that this chipset is already sampling and that it is working well. Our industry sources that are important to Nvidia already saw the chipset in action and they showed some enthusiasm about it. This chipset is expected in the first quarter of 2005, and we are sure that Nvidia might grab some important design wins with it.
