nForce5 (C19) to Arrive in April ++ Pentium 4 SLI to Demo at CeBIT

February 9th 2005 | nForce4 Intel

AT LEAST some Nforce 5 motherboards should be available in April. We looked at some secret plans and mysteriously saw C19 based motherboard scheduled for April. This board, as we wrote earlier, is going to support Nvidia’s somewhat exciting SLI marchitecture. Yes, those boards will have two PCI Express graphic slots and will finally bring SLI to Dell and all the others who only want to use Pentium 4s. We don’t need to say that this marchitecture works with 775 P4 CPUs.

As we said in our earlier story, Nforce 5 will have a south bridge as well. We explained before that Pentium 4 chipsets have memory controller and it’s very likely that this south bridge will feature Azalia like audio. We believe that Nvidia plans to replace C19 codename with Nforce 5 as a commercial name. That could change.

There will be q few versions of C19 and we can expect Nforce 5 SLI, Ultra and vanilla lines, just like Nforce 4 chipsets. Still, you will see many SLI boards, Ultras are coming to be while the vanilla flave is still not that widely available. I believe that Nforce 4 vanilla flavours might draw some customers among OEMs. The same business model will be applicable for the C19, Nforce 5 chipset.
