MSI P6N SLI Platinum (NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI) - Exclusive Review

February 16th 2007 | nForce 600

MSI’s P6N SLI series of motherboards are the long awaited successors to their strong NVIDIA nForce 4 Intel Edition based P4N family. MSI paper launched the P6N SLI lineup late November last year with three boards, the high-end P6N SLI Diamond, the mid-range P6N SLI Platinum and the mainstream P6N SLI running on the nForce 680i SLI and nForce 650i SLI chipsets respectively. Originally hinting at a December 2006 release, MSI has since revised their projections for a Q1′07 launch.

..We wouldn’t be wrong if we said that the MSI P6N SLI Platinum has been long in waiting, but from what we see, the wait is well worth it. The P6N SLI Platinum has been very well implemented, good design, great cooling and solid all-round operational stability. Yes, it still has some quirks in the areas of tweaking and overclocking, but we didn’t think that they were severe enough to detract it from being a top class motherboard. In any case, the board was not designed to be a top overclocker and neither has MSI billed it as such. The MSI P6N SLI Platinum is one of those ’safe’ motherboards that you know will just work.
