While Vista is obviously the big news from Microsoft lately, the company has been making some interesting moves on the hardware front. The biggest announcements were two new desktops combos, namely the 7000 and the 8000. Both of the Wireless Entertainment Desktops are designed to take on the coolest, most feature-packed offerings from companies like Logitech (most notably the diNovo series) and establish a foothold in the growing entertainment segment. One thing that both the 7000 and 8000 have in common, something that sets them apart from Logitech’s diNovo Edge keyboard, is the inclusion of a mouse. And not just any mouse, they use Microsoft’s current top-of-the-line: the Wireless Laser Mouse 8000.
Luckily for those of use who already have keyboards, the Wireless Laser Mouse (WLM) 8000 is also available as a stand-alone product. The only difference between the mouse that comes with the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 and the retail version of the WLM 8000 is a slight change in coloring and materials.
