Microsoft Unveils Windows Vista as Official Name for Longhorn

Microsoft has announced that ‘Vista’ is the official name of its next-generation Windows client operating system, formerly code-named ‘Longhorn.’ Microsoft has posted a video of the name announcement which can be seen here, and a high-res picture here, and set up a Windows Vista Web site.

Windows Vista Beta 1, targeted at developers and IT professionals, will be available by August 3, 2005.
