Microsoft announces Japanese FIFA bundle for Xbox 360

April 4th 2006 | Games Consoles

Microsoft, in collaboration with FIFA, EA and Adidas Japan, has announced plans to release a limited edition Xbox 360 bundle in Japan, to coincide with the launch of EA’s FIFA World Cup Germany game and hopefully drive sales in the territory.

The limited edition bundle [scheduled for release on April 27th] will consist of an Xbox 360 console with hard drive, wireless controller and media accessories, a limited edition Adidas Japan blue faceplate featuring the colours of Japan’s national football team, an Adidas Japan blue bandana and a copy of EA’s World Cup Germany game.

A report states that Microsoft will announce plans for this relaunch strategy at a press conference in Japan next and will reveal a targeted date of June 29th for the reintroduction of the console into the Japanese market. The German site [gamefront.de] suggests that this date seems very plausible for the relaunch as several major Xbox 360 titles — Sega’s Chrome Hounds, Idea Factory’s Spectral Force 3: Innocent Rage, AQ Interactive’s Bullet Witch, and Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter — have had their Japanese release dates changed to June 29th.
