Linux: nForce2 vs KT400

July 14th 2003 | Linux

First, we see that the nForce2 is finally a very viable Linux chipset thanks to the new stable 2.4.21 kernel. It provides everything minus two that you will need to get a board featuring the nForce2 up and running. The only things that you’ll need will be the closed-source drivers for NVIDIA AGP and NVIDIA Ethernet that can be found on their site. Once you get these boards up and running, you will find that the nForce2 does produce a faster PC. Interestingly enough though, it’s not that big of a difference. When looking at pricing, these boards are almost equal in price at around $120US.
