The GCC-5241P may just be a laptop drive in a USB case, but it is a classy case that put things together nicely. The metallic (magnesium-like) finishing is solid. You should not, however, expect the same level of performance from the 5241P as internal or external drives based on ATAPI parts. At 132 x 21 x 155mm, it is roughly at the size of a CD jewel case, at 1.5 times the thickness. But as you gain in mobility, you have to trade in with some extra efforts. On an ATAPI internal or external drive, changing a CD is an "eject, place, close" trilogy. On a drive like the 5241P, when you eject, the lit pops and it is up to you to lift up the cover, then to snap the CD securely in place and close the lit manually. These can keep the 5241P from being perfect for some people.
