Brian Underdown, who helped demystify Superstability
with his article NVIDIA® Nforce Chipset Memory Debate (no longer)..,
reviews Leadtek’s nForce2 SPP/MCP-T motherboard - Leadtek
K7NCR18D-Pro @ AMDworld .co.uk :
Gaming enthusiast and home multimedia enthusiast can take full advantage of the
Nforce2 solution has the Leadtek K7NCR18D-Pro uses the MCP-T which combines 6
USB ports and the IEEE-1394a/FireWire® port to enable a full digital media
system. The NVIDIA SoundStorm process is able to deliver an almost perfect
digital signal to any outboard decoder commonly known as a DAC in the HI-FI world.
Below is an example of the capabilities that can be achieved with this platform
and as we had seen at recent launch event held by NVIDIA in London, where they
had simulated the image below and trust us the audio reproduction experienced
was impressive and very realistic. The NVIDIA SoundStorm can deliver a digital
coaxial output signal via a SPDIF connection……The Leadtek K7NCR18D-Pro Nforce2 is certainly a mainboard
that will meet the demands and able to deliver the performance many want to see
on the AMD silicons.Furthermore the Leadtek K7NCR18D-Pro Nforce2 is a stable product
and at no times did we experience any problems during the period of the tests.
Being realistic it would have been nice to test the Dolby digital capabilities
but unfortunately we do not have the facility to test this part of the product
but what we saw in a demonstration was extremely impressive and can only say if
you can use the audio facilities to the maximum configuration you will not be
disappointed. Overall the Leadtek K7NCR18D-Pro Nforce2 is a solid mainboard and
is one of the best solutions for the current AMD XP2700+ and future processors.
Pricing is very competitive and not has expected and being that Leadtek cater
for graphic card solutions by NVIDIA you can put some good trust in a Leadtek
combination. So Nforce2 lives up to expectations and though the wait was long
we can gladly say Leadtek have got a strong performance design here and is able
to reap all the benefits of the Nforce2 platform and with future AMD processor
releases with 333MHz bus capability the platform and drivers will mature for the
better.
