In case you missed it, NVIDIA introduced the nForce2 400/Ultra 400 platform processors (north bridges) last week. So when will we see the new MCP-S (Media and Communications Processor) south bridge we’ve been hearing about*? The Inquirer says some time in July:
Still this new Nforce is not all that Nvidia has to say about Athlon platform since FSB 400 FSB may likely to be last stop of this CPU unless AMD64 Hammer gets further delayed. Nvidia will introduce a new south bridge called MCP–S where S stands for Serial ATA. Apart from Serial ATA this chipset will have the Nvidia Gigabit network adaptor which will be the last innovation for this new south bridge.
