Apple is set to use its iPhone take on Nintendo in the video games sector, according to the latest from the industry’s rumour mill.
Games have been available on the iPhone since its hugely hyped launch last month.
However, a report in the New York Post today suggests that Apple has its sights firmly set on becoming a significant player in the market for “casual games” exploited by Nintendo’s phenomenally successful Wii and DS devices.
Times Online - iPhone to take on Nintendo in games arena
If Apple does want to make the Iphone play games, then it will again find itself on someone else’s turf, the borders of which have been marked out in the blood of those who have failed. Nintendo and Sony fan boys are almost fanatical as their Apple rivals. This could either be one of the biggest religious wars since the 30 Years War or a Wii in the wind for Apple.
Apple will also be completing with a gadget which is obscenely expensive in comparison to its rivals. It is also unlikely to attract as many games on the machine as the likes of Nintendo and Sony.
