Initial sales of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in Japan have fallen short of expectations, with sales volume totaling only 62,100 units in the first two days since its debut on December 10, according to Japan-based game magazine publisher Enterbrain. Another Japan-based market research firm, Media Create, however, came out with a number lower than that of Enterbrain, listing the first two-day sales figure of the Xbox 360 at 41,800 units.
The two-day sales volume accounted for 39% of the 159,000 Xbox 360 consoles on store shelves in the Japanese channel, Enterbrain pointed out in a recent report. Sales of Xbox, the predecessor to the Xbox 360, totaled 123,900 units in the first three days after Microsoft launched the game console in Japan in 2002, the report noted.
