Gigabyte X600 XT GV-RX60X128V Video Card Review

January 10th 2005 | Graphics Cards

Today we’re examining the one of the first video cards that was available this summer for early adopters of the PCI-Express bus: the Gigabyte GV-RX60X128V. Based upon ATI’s X600 XT, the Gigabyte card was among the most powerful cards that was widely available at the time as the PCI-Express variants based on the X800 were extremely rare.

…The Gigabyte X600XT has been flawless. While not the ultimate performer in the most graphically intense recent games or older games with the lots of graphical enhancement features such as AA or AF enabled, the card can handle itself in more common situations. That’s not what the card was intended for, so one can’t ding it for that.

The card is extremely small and doesn’t require an extra power cable, as such it can be used in smaller form-factor or HTPCs without a problem. The inclusion of the Rage Theatre chip allows the Gigabyte X600 XT to have full VIVO functionality, which is very cool and further enhances its functionality in the HTPC environment.

The full-featured bundle rounds out a n impressive and low priced package. Those looking for a very complete X600 XT solution should look no further than the Gigabyte GV-RX60X128V as it has everything one could ask for.

+ Small
+ Inexpensive
+ VIVO Functionality
+ Early PCI-Express Adoption
+ Highly Overclockable
+ Great Software Bundle
- Lacks performance with newer games
- For a few $$ more, the X700 XT will provide much better performance
