The X48 is the high-end of the Intel motherboard chipset market with the P45 and G45 being the mainstream motherboards. Gigabyte’s X48T-DQ6 supports all of the latest Intel Core 2 Quad/Extreme/Duo CPUs and also supports the older Prescott CPUs which some motherboards don’t due to the VRM 11.1 specification.
In terms of performance the X48T-DQ6 is slightly behind the Intel reference X48 board, but mostly it is within the normal range of running a benchmark on two different motherboards. In terms of features the X48T-DQ6 is outstanding as it offers Quad BIOS safety from a bad BIOS Flash, Quad external SATA2 support and Quad Cooling, offering the best cooling solution on their boards… Not exactly an Editor’s Choice due to its lack of DDR3 support, but it is a Hot Product as it still has plenty of available options that make it worth taking a look at.
