Gigabyte K8VT890-9 Motherboard Review – VIA K8T890 AMD64

July 7th 2005 | Hardware

Gigabyte’s K8T890-9 motherboard designed for Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64’s, includes support for the latest Athlon 64 x2 processors and is based on VIA’s K8T890 chipset. TweakTown compares the K8T890-9 motherboard against an NVIDIA nForce4 based motherboard to help work out where VIA’s latest AMD64 chipset stands:

With that Gigabyte has done a great job simply by following design specs to keep the K8 happy. We can only hope that VIA releases a Southbridge that can keep up, as ULi is now hot on VIA’s heals, with ULi making the cut will leave a very sore point with the end users who have held VIA up to the savoir of the AMD platform for years. The Gigabyte K8T890 is a good value motherboard but besides that it doesn’t jump out at us with anything special to break a sweat over.
