Gigabyte K8NXP-9 nForce4 Ultra Motherboard Review

January 12th 2005 | nForce4

We looked at Gigabyte’s nForce4 SLI solution recently and were generally happy with it. Today, we have their non SLI nForce4 Ultra board- the K8NXP-9.. ..Gigabyte loads the K8NXP-9 nicely with onboard features. The nForce4 ultra chipset provides support for 3GB/s SATA and nVRAID along with Gigabit Ethernet with Firewall and ten USB 2.0 ports. Gigabyte adds four more SATA connectors using the Silicon Image 3114 controller which has support for RAID5. Audio is taken care of using the ACL850 codec providing eight channel output with SPDIF connectivity. You also get three Firewire ports onboard as well as an additional Network controller. Gigabyte also uses their proprietary technologies like Dual BIOS and DPS on the K8NXP-9 for a supposedly more stable solution

…To summarize, the K8XXP-9 is a pretty decent board with a mostly good layout and excellent onboard features. Performance is about as good as other nForce4 ultra based motherboards while overclocking is ok. Basically, this board has a bit of everything and if that’s what you’re looking for, then the K8NXP-9 is the one for ya.
