GIGABYTE - Gigabyte GA-K8NNXP nForce3-150 Motherboard Review

February 9th 2004 | Hardware

Andy Zen has posted a standalone review of the Gigabyte GA-K8NNXP nForce3-150 motherboard over at Neoseeker. Although no comparison benchmarks were included, the GA-K8NNXP’s features were enough to win the reviewer’s recommendation:

Gigabyte should be a familiar name to many of you. As one of the leading motherboard manufacturers in the world, their motherboards are highly regarded and popular with enthusiasts and OEMs alike. So when AMD released the Athlon 64 last September, Gigabyte was at the forefront of it all, announcing support for both the Socket 754 (Athlon 64) and the Socket 940 (Athlon FX). The motherboard we have on hand today is the Gigabyte K8 Triton Series GA-K8NNXP, which is based on nVidia’s 3rd generation chipset, the nForce3 150.

..The Gigabyte GA-K8NNXP is a full-featured motherboard, with enough options to satisfy everybody. You have dual LAN for home network setup, more RAID options than you can shake a stick at, a very customizable BIOS that is begging for a highly tweakable CPU, the newest Firewire implementation (1394b cards aren’t exactly cheap), the list goes on and on. There are a few issues, such as the BIOS settings being cumbersome to edit, and the mediocre quality of the onboard sound, but these are minor issues not unique to this motherboard (I for one still believe all onboard sound is of mediocre quality).

Even though we are currently lacking direct comparisons, this board easily gets my recommendation on features alone.
