GIGABYTE - Gigabyte GA-7NNXP (nForce2 Ultra 400) Review

November 3rd 2003 | Hardware

If you’re the sort of person who drives a luxury car, and you wouldn’t have it any other way, then the 7NNXP would fit nicely in with your standard of living. Or if you’re simply someone who spends everything they have on serious computer hardware, then this motherboard is for you as well. Not only does the 7NNXP have lots of features, but they are all par excellence.

On the 7NNXP you will find support for 400MHz FSB with the nForce II Ultra 400 chipset, SATA and PATA RAID, firewire, plenty of USB 2.0 ports, 4 Dual Channel DDR SDRAM DIMMS, AGP Pro 8X, and my favorite, Gigabit and a second 10/100 Mbit LAN. Among those major features, you also get some of the Gigabyte unique features like Dual Bios and DPS (Dual Power System for 6-phase power). One other thing that comes with the 7NNXP is a big price tag - and we know that this size can indeed matter! So if you’re on a budget, you’d probably be better off looking at a less expensive alternative.

. . . The GA-7NNXP is a great board with more features than we’ve seen on any other board, including 400MHz FSB, AGP 8X, 4xDual Channel DIMMS, Gigabit LAN, 10/100 secondary LAN, SATA and PATA RAID, audio, dual BIOS, and lots of expansivity. The fact that these features also come with great performance bodes very well for this solution. The one drawback - it’s high price tag - will probably keep this board as just a wishful dream for most, but for those lucky enough to get their hands on one, disappointment will be a thing of the past.
